    1872: 6 d. reddish violet, line perf. 12, a used example from the base of the pane with "PRICE" imprint but some distressed perfs.,used on 1872 cover to Wolverhampton cancelled by "B31" obliterator in black. Reverse with "PAID SIERRA LEONE" datestamp of despatch (July 17) in red; obverse with fine "PAID / LIVERPOOL / BR. PACKET" in red (Aug 5). Manuscript "5d." credit at right in red and Wolverhampton cds (Aug 6) in black. Despite imperfections, an attractive usage.
