1841 (Feb 13): Cover from Hobart to Andrew James Learmonth in Port Phillip, endorsed "per Naiad" in manuscript, care of Mr. D. Fisher in Geelong, rated "11d." in manuscript (7d. inland postage to Launceston and 4d. for a Ship Letter), struck with oval framed "MELBOURNE / ♚ / NEW S. WALES" in black (March 2) and the reverse with fine framed "MISSENT TO / MELBOURNE" in black, with manusacript notation of receipt (March 10). The cover should have travelled direct to Geelong, a very rare and unusual cover.rnrnNote: The brothers John, Thomas and Somerville Learmonth were amongst the first squatters in the Port Phillip district.
