    Official 1885: Stampless printed cover of "Australian Association for the Advancement of Science" mailed to Norwood, South Australia signed "A.C. Gregory, President", struck with "SOUTH BRISBANE / QUEENSLAND" cds (Jan 8). Reverse with "TPO / A / QUEENSLAND" datestamp, Adelaide transits and Norwood arrival. Listed in the Ben Palmer census on page 127. Minor imperfections but rare: Sir Augustus Charles Gregory (1819-1905) was an explorer, Surveyor General of Queensland, politician and member of the Legislative Assembly, philanthropist and Masonic Grand Master.rnrnProvenance: Abacus, Melbourne, 7 April 2019, lot 57.
