    Diadem Issue 1856: Perkins Bacon Trial Proof, an imperforate block of six (2 x 3) for the small Diadem issue with POSTAGE and Duty Plate blank and waxed void lower left corners, printed in bright scarlet on unwatermarked thick toned gummed wove paper with '1' in manuscript in top margin. Pencil annotation on reverse "Printed in Varnish Colour dusted on later, from Mann Col."; fresh and very fine. Most attractive and rare.rnrnProvenance: Collection H.W.
