1851: 2 d. blue,of fine colour and with four large margins but affected by file fold, used in combination with 1850 Sydney View, 3 d. emerald-green on yellowish wove paper, three good margins, touched at base, on 1853 cover from Brisbane to Bristol, England tied by "95" barred obliterators. Originally mailed without adhesives with oval "BRISBANE / ♚ / NEW S. WALES" datestamp (Feb 22) and circular "SHIP LETTER / ♚ / SYDNEY" datestamp (Feb 28) in black. Presumably returned for postage with "To Pay 5" on obverse at left, reverse struck again with oval "BRISBANE / ♚ / NEW S. WALES" datestamp (March 11) and circular "SHIP LETTER / ♚ / SYDNEY" datestamp (March 16) in black and London cds (Aug 4) in red and rated "8d." to pay for incoming Ship Letter.
