1930: De La Rue unadopted Essay for proposed Airmail 2 pi. value printed in violet with Gordon statue and biplane, mounted for presntation in thick brown card (100 x 112 mm.) with "A" at top with inked "SURFACE" at top deleted in pencil and dated "1.7.30" at base. Reverse with oval "Thos. De La Rue & Co. Ltd. 110 Bunhill Row EC" violet cachet and manuscript notation "This arrangement of wording". Not illustrated in the "De La Rue Collection".
