    1881 (July 1): 1 c. vermilion on yellowish, plate I, imperforate, a used horizontal strip of five (positions 26-30), strip of four (positions 36-39) and single (position 40), this last used as seal to envelope and folded round at left, ample to large margins all round, tied to 1883 single rate cover endorsed "via Cuba" to New York tied by "Port au Prince / Haiti" cds's (Sept 12) and by "Correos / Habana" transit cds (Sept 22). Reverse with Santiago de Cuba transit (Sept 17) and "New York / Paid All" arrival. A rare and most attractive cover, just three such frankings with the 1 cent are recorded.
