    1879: Essay for Stamp Statute 3 d. design, entirely hand-painted on card (80 x 102 mm.) in orange on background of Chinese white with perforation surround in pencil. very close to the issued design although issued in mauve. Signed off at lower right and dated "29.7.79" in ink. Illustrated and discussed in "The Stamps of Victoria" by Geoff Kellow RDP on page 215.
