    1903: De Le Rue composite Artist's Essay, imperforate and stamp size, hand-painted in carmine and pink and touched up in Chinese white, inset in sunken card (56 x 76 mm.) with cut down Die Proof of the Wharf vignette above in black. Marked "B" at upper left and dated in manuscript "Dec 23, 01" at top right. Further manuscript at base "The approved design" and signed.
