    1914 (March 3): Perkins Bacon Die Proof for the 1 d. value, State 3, the final Die with re-engraved King's nose and background lines to the vignette, printed in carmine-red on thin glazed white card (124 x 92 mm.), endorsed 'third state' at base in pencil, and "3rd State, a copy handed by me to Mr Bacon for His Majesty 3.3.14 S:B:" (Seymour Bennett of Somerset House). Reverse with circular Perkins Bacon, Southwark "PROOF" cachet in black. Probably the most famous of all the early Die Proofs due to the well known inscription and a magnificent frontispiece for a connoisseur's collection.
