    Chalons. Recess by Perkins Bacon 1858/67: 1 s. vermilion, imperforate, wmk. '12', two used vertical strips of three, originally used alongside each other, one stamp just touched at right and five with four margins all round, portions of adjoining stamps at base, lightly cancelled by mute Hobart obliterators in black. Most attractive and scarce multiples: a block of six (ex Earl and Sato) being the largest recorded multiple Gi = £ 450+.
