Chalons 2 d. blue, a single example, horizontal pair and strip of three, used on double rate 31 August 1866 Dodgson correspondence cover to Putney, London endorsed "via Marseilles", poorly tied by Yaamba "41" numeral obliterators in black. Struck with octagonal framed "INSUFFICIENTLY / PREPAID" in black at left but not charged upon arrival. Reverse with Yaamba despatch (Sept 9), Brisbane and London arrival (Nov 17). Listed and illustrated in the Ben Palmer Queensland census on pages 180 and 181. Despite usual perf. irregularities and a small tear in one stamp a most appealing cover.rnProvenance: ex Moya Land coll.
