    1840 (Aug 24): Entire letter from Bungonia to Edinburgh, Scotland with manuscript "Ship Letter" at lower left, prepaid internally at 11d., struck with octagonal framed "BUNGONIA / POST PAID" in red with oval "PAID SHIP LETTER / ♚ / SE 3 / 1840 / SYDNEY" in red at right. Reverse oval "♚ / GENERAL POST OFFICE / SYDNEY" in black (Sept 3) and London SHIP LETTER straight line in black and cds in red (March 13, 1841). Charged '8d.' for the Ship Letter fee upon  arrival. This settler was happier than most, he had become the proprietor of the "Ship Inn" in Bungonia.
