1919, Trans-Atlantic Air Post $1 on 15 c. scarclet, used on cover, from St John's, New Foundland to London, carried on the First Transatlantic Flight crossing from Newfoundland to Clifden, County Gallway, Ireland, by pilots Captain Jack Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown in a modified WWI Vickers Vimy biplane, envelope dated 11 June 1919, with arrival in London on reverse dated 17 June 1919, slight soiling, however a scarce and historical item. Gi = £3'000 SG listing for Alcock flown covers. rnrnNote: Captain Alcock and Lieutenent Brown successfully crossed the North Atlantic in June 1919, becoming the first pilots to complete a non-stop transatlantic flight in their Vickers Vimy Biplane.
