    Unofficial Separation Experiment 1840: 1 d. black, plate 6, lettered AC, a used example on large piece, huge margin at top, the stamp with experimental separation three sides in a wavy roulette - similar to the "Treasury roulettes" trialled in the 1850's. The adhesive neatly tied by Maltese Cross in red with London Lombard Street datestamp (Sept 12, 1840) displaying well. Certificate RPSL (1987).rnProvenance: Phillips 4.
