    1840: First (and later rejected) Die for the One Penny Black in black, two impressions on cream wove paper, the 1902 reprint, few light creases, otherwise fine. The first die for the 1 d. was ready by January 1840, but was later rejected and remained with the printer's, Perkins Bacon & Co.
