    1848 (July 20) Entire letter from 'The Gums' written by Frederick Burchett to the Supreme Court in Melbourne, rated '11d.' for a distance between 170 and 220 miles, with oval framed "PORT FAIRY / ♛ / N.S.W." datestamp (July 25) and oval "MELBOURNE / ♛ / PORT PHILLIP" arrival (July 27), both in black. Brothers Frederick and Henry  Burchett arrived at Port Phillip in 1839 and held the 'The Gums' until 1849.
