Recess by De La Rue 1862: 1 d. dull blue, no wmk., smooth paper, perf. 13, a used example somewhat overlapping 1862/64 9 d. olive-sepia, rough perf., tied to 1864 cover from Galle to London endorsed "via Marseilles" by barred obliterator in black. Single ring "GALLE / PAID" cds in red alongside (March 19) and reverse with 'London / Paid' cds of receipt (April 12) in black.
