    Recess by Perkins Bacon 1857 (Aug 24): 2 d. green, wmk. Star, imperforate, the extraordinary used block of twenty (4 x 5), marginal from left of sheet, just touched to large margins all round with surprisingly light cancellations in black; of fine colour but the edges with six small inclusioned tears not greatly detracting from the beauty of the largest known used multiple of this stamp (the second largest was ex Burrus and is a block of sixteen). Sold together with a 1954 letter from Cyril Harmer in London to the owner "your block, despite its defects, which do not seem to be very serious, is certainly a most fantastic piece". An Exhibiition item for the connoisseur.
