    1890 (March 5): De La Rue Essay for proposed 4 d. value, composite design using perforated 4 d. keyplate in lilac, with hand-painted "FIJI" in deep orange and Duty Plate with lined hand-painted background in orange with "4d." picked out in Chinese white. Taken from the 1890 Appendix sheet requisitioned by the Crown Agents but which remained in abeyance until the accession oif Edward VII. Illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP on page 3203. Stunning and unique.
