1870/74: Canada Small Queen 3 c. deep rose-red, perf. 12, two horizontal pairs used on small 1874 cover to Paris tied by Montreal duplexes (May 12) in black. Manuscript "Insufficiently prepaid" in red ink at left; thence via London (May 27) with red cds on reverse and framed "GB / 2F.-" accountancy marking applied in black. Noted at '9' grams in manuscript at right and struck on arrival with handstruck '12' décimes charge marking for double rate, the original franking being ignored: tariff of 1 July 1871.
