1854: Woodblock 6 d. orange, a single example with even margins all round but just off edge of 1858 entire letter from Melbourne to Castres, Gironde, France endorsed "p. Australasian via Marseilles" (European & Australian Mail Co.), tied by '1' numeral obliterator in black, with "SHIP LETTER / ♚ / MELBOURNE" despatch datestamp (June 15) in red on reverse. Underpaid 7 d. for 1/1 d. rate, struck on obverse with "AUSTRALIE V. SUEZ / AMB. H" in red (Aug 7) and charged '8' décimes due: tariff of 1 Jan 1857.
