1819 (Oct 20): Colonial entire letter from Lima to Valencia, Spain, endorsed "Por Caratxa" (Cartagena, Colombia), struck on despatch with superb "PERU" in red. Carried on the Quito-Santa Fé-Cartagena route and thence by ship to Havana and Cadiz. Charged due upon arrival with large "8Rs." handstamp in red. Illustrated in Edition D'Or 59 on page 179.
