    French Military Concessionary Rate 1861 (Nov 17): Large part cover at Military Concession rate from Montevideo to France bearing 1853 20 c. blue, shaved at top, margins on three sides, tied by dotted Anchor lozenge in black. Carried by the Brazilian Ship "Diligent" (replacing the "Saintonge") to Rio de Janeiro. Transferred there and struck with octagonal "CORRESP. D. ARMÉES / NAVARRE" datestamp (Nov 17) in black (Salles fig. 1028) and, alongside, circular "BÉARN / *" datestamp (same day) in black (Salles fig. 1001). Bordeaux arrival cds and 'Bordeaux a Cette' TPO (Dec 20) on reverse. Flaps missing but just two recorded Mails are recorded carried by the "Diligent". Illustrated in Edition D'Or on page 113. A rare cover.
