RMSP 1865 (Dec 30): Entire letter from Montevideo to New York at double rate, endorsed "via Southampton p. Steamer", struck on despatch with oval "Admon de Correos / Montevideo" datestamp (Dec 31), carried on the "Magdalena" to Southampton. Thence via London (Feb 4) and HAPAG Steamer "Hammonia" on her last New York voyage and struck with "New York Am. Pkt." arrival (Feb 26) and "90" (cents) due marking for double rate and Depreciated Currency handstamp "U.S. NOTES / 138" in black. A fine 'Double Atlantic Crossing entire'.
