1840: Mulready 2 d. blue letter-sheet, stereo a94, a used example from London to Great Yarmouth, cancelled by bold strike of London "No. 6" in Maltese Cross struck in black. Reverse with London Maltese Cross datestamp of despatch (Sept 23, 1843) in red and obverse with double arc Great Yarmouth arrival cds (Sept 24) in black. Signed at lower left by sender, Joseph Hume (1777-1855), the radical MP and mailed to Dawson Turner, banker, botanist and antiquarian. The Karl Louis Card Index records just 4 2 d. Mulreadies with the "No. 6" in Cross, of which this is undoubtedly the finest.
