    1840: Mulready 1 d. black envelope, stereo A148, a used example from Chatham, Kent to Edinburgh cancelled by red Maltese Cross. Manuscript notation of despatch on front panel 'Robert. Chatham, May 10th 1840' and reverse flap, opened for display with double arc CHATHAM cds MY.10 / 1840 in red - an extremely rare usage on First Sunday May Date that exhibits well. Listed in Jackson 'May Dates' on page 303. Cert.
