    Watermark Crown CC 1870/83: Artist's stamp size Essay for the proposed 5 s. value, hand-painted on thick card in close to the issued design, with JAMAICA POSTAGE at top and FIVE SHILLINGS at base picked out in Chinese white on deep brown background, the vignette of the Queen's head and background pasted in pale red-brown. Not illustrated in "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP although two 2 s. and a further unadopted 5 s. Essay are shown on page 4303. Exquisite and extremely rare.
