    Surcharged by the 'West Indian Press' 1878 (March 28): Provisional 1 d. on half 5 s. rose, perf. 15½ x 15, surcharge reading up, a used horizontal unsevered pair, left stamp showing '1' with straight serif (Type 3b) and right half showing '1' with curved serif (Type 3a), sharing small piece with June 1873 unsurcharged 5 s. dull rose tied by 'Barbados' bootheel duplex (March 31, 1878) in black.
