    1903: President Marroquin 10 c. violet, a vertical pair used on small envelope to Mekeel Stamp Co. in St. Louis, USA tied by two strikes of oval framed SONSON handstamps in blue. Reverse with 'Barranquilla' cds of transit (Dec 26, 1903) and New York transit cds (Jan 7, 1904). The earliest recorded use of this issue on letter - both Scott and Stanley Gibbons state the date of issue as '1904'. Rare Gi 283.
