    DDSG Shipping Agency 1843: Entire letter from Constantinople to Gemlik on the Sea of Marmara, struck with circular "D.D.S.G. / P.P. / CONSTANTINOPOLI" handstamp in blue-green (Tchilinghirian fig. 441), a fine strike of this extraordinarily rare cancellation (never found in superb quality), the cover illustrated in 'Die Österreichische Post in der Levante' on page 211. rnNote: In 1829, the Donau-Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschft (DDSG, Danube Steamshipping Company) was founded. It supplied postal services on the Danube as well as on the Black and Aegean Sea. In 1845, the DDSG services were restricted to the Danube and Odessa.
