    1865 (Aug 4): Great Britain 1865 6 d. lilac pl. 5, lettered SC, an extraordinary mis-perforated example imperforate at base, at left and at right with vertical row of perforations through the centre of the stamp and horizontally through the letterings at top, used on 1865 envelope from Gibraltar to London endorsed 'via Spain' tied by "A26" obliterator in black. GIBRALTAR despatch cds at right (Aug 4) and 'London / Paid' arrival (Aug 10). The envelope with some soiling but a remarkable stamp.rnProvenance: Christie's, 12 April 1988, lot 813.
