1868 (Dec 2): Great Britain 1867 10 d. red-brown used in astonishing combination with 1867 2 s. blue, two single examples and an immaculate block of eight (2 x 4) lettered BA-BB/EA-EB, on registered 1868 cover from Constantinople to London (addressed to Messrs. Kennet & Spink) all tied by twelve strikes of the "C" in bars obliterator with straight line "REGISTERED" handstamp in red alongside. The two single 2 s. blue with pulled perfs. and two side flaps missing but showing 'British Post Office / Constantinople' cds in blue on reverse (Dec 2) and oval framed "Registered / London" arrival datestamp (Dec 10). An outstanding cover and a major Exhibition piece for both Great Britain and Turkish philately as can be attested when one sees the provenances below.rnProvenance: Collection E.E.
