    1872 (April 12): 6 d. pale buff, Plate 12, wmk. Spray, lettered BE-BF, a horizontal pair used on 1873 cover to Calcutta, India endorsed 'via Brindisi', tied by "Hawkhurst / 427" duplex (Aug 14) in black. Reverse with 'Wadhurst' cds in black, oval '"Sea Post Office / A" datestamp in black (Aug 22) and carried on the "Sunda" with Calcutta arrival cds in red alongside. Some aging on top perfs. but an attractive example of the single rate.
