    1854/56: 'Queen on Throne' Perkins Bacon sunken Die Proof (39 x 43 mm.), similar to the central vignette of the 1 d. value, with VICTORIA inscribed on lower step and laurel leaf surround, printed in black on thick card paper. The design was based on a watercolour drawing by Edward Henry Corbould. Scarce and most appealing, cut down but almost identical to the Die Proof offered (lot 2068) in the first Purves sale. Rare.
