    Allied Intervention:  Canea / Xania 1890: 1 pi. on 10 kr. ultramarine & black, used on registered 1897 covers (2, each with full contents), earlier example with further 1 pi. on reverse, the other cover with two 20 pa. on 5 kr. rose on reverse; all stamps cancelled by rare early usage of the I.R.SPEDZIONE POSTALE / CANEA datestamps (Tchilinghirian fig. 535) in black, mailed from a member of the KK II / 87th Infantry Battalion in Crete, one cover mailed to Vienna the other to Przemysl. A few minor imperfections but mail (particularly registered) from the Austrian section of the combined Allied Intervention Forces is very scarce.
