    1864/71: 2 d. blue, Plate II, horizontal strip of three and single 6 d. red-brown, used on 1870 cover from Ross to Kingston, New Brunswick via San Francisco, tied by "V/4" obliterators in black. Reverse with 'Ross' despatch cds (July 27), Hokitika cds, Christchurch cds (July 30), Auckland cds (Aug 6), Montreal cds (Sept 15), thence missent to Kingston, Ontario and redirected with FORWARDED handstamp in red. ST. JOHN'S cds (Sept 20) and eventual KINGSTON / N.B. arrival cds (Sept 21) all in black. The envelope and stamps with minor imperfections, lifted and reaffixed but an extraordinary usage and destination for Chalon mail. Cert.
