    1841 (Sept 20): Entire letter from Constantinople to Trieste, struck on despatch with superb straight line CONSTANTINOPEL handstamp in black (Tchilinghirian fig. 383), rastel punched for disinfection with manuscript rate '36' (kreuzers) on reverse due to Lloyd. Trieste arrival cds in red (Oct 3). A fine entire and an early use of this handstamp - Tchilinghirian states 'believed introduced in the early 1840's' whilst Muller records the mark from 1844.
