    1863/65: 1 d. brown-red, wmk. Crown CC, an imperforate Proof with large margins all round, overprinted SPECIMEN diagonally in black. Exceptional and very rare - see "The De La Rue Collection" edited by Frank Walton RDP where a 6 d. value is shown at the base of page 5001 - this is illustrated stuck down on blue paper with "CC Postage" annotation above, the 1 d. value offered here also has traces of the blue backing paper found in the DLR register (also with traces of gum) and was most probably originally mounted alongside the 6 d. shown in "The De La Rue Collection".
