Losnr. : 6127 Kap der Guten Hoffnung
De La Rue Printing 1863/64: 6 d. bright mauve, a very fine example with good margins all round and portion of adjoining stamp at left, used in combination with 1865 4 d. pale blue on the famous 1867 cover to Foochow, China endorsed "p. 'Mauritius' via Mauritius", tied by barred oval numeral "1" cancellations in black. 'Cape Town / Cape Colony' despatch cds on front (Nov 29) and at left notation of final charge due "To Pay 28c., FW" in manuscript. Rate notations on front of 4d., 10d. = 1/2d to pay. The '10' originally inscribed erroneously in red crayon (which would have denoted paid) and thus deleted. Reverse with HONG KONG cds of transit (Feb 6, 1868) in black. The 4 d. adhesive with rounded corner perf. mentioned for accuracy, otherwise an immaculate and wonderful mixed issue franking to an extraordinary destination.rnrnProvenance: Collection Sir Maxwell Joseph, Sothebys, Oct 1982, lot 1110.Ausruf : 10.000 CHFZuschlag : 14.000 CHF
