    De La Rue Printing 1863/64: 1 d. deep carmine-red on thick unwatermarked paper, the unique example with full manuscript "Specimen" in ink, large margins all round, fresh and fine with partial gum. Alan Drysdall conjectures that this stamp was printed solely for De La Rue's in-house records (see the article by the late Alan Drysdall in 'The London Philatelist', Jan-Feb, 2007 which accompanies the lot).
