    Ballon Monté No. 59 1871: 'Gazette des Absents' No. 26 written to Marseille, franked by two examples of 1870 Siège 10 c. bistre (one corner fault), tied by "PARIS (SC) 12 JANV. 71" despatch cds, reverse with TPO Bordeaux-Irun transit (Jan 15) and arrival cds (Jan 16). This item was flown from besieged Paris on the 59th Ballon 'Général Faidherbe'. An appealing combination of stamps and red datestamp, cert. Roumet (2016) Maury =  € 1'750+/Yvert = € 1'550+.
