    Peninsular War 1808 (June 26): Entire letter written in garrison from San Sebastian to Niort, France and re-addressed on arrival, struck with superb three line 'No. 4 CORPS / D'OBSERV. DES PYRENEES / OCCIDENTALES' in black (unrecorded by Reinhardt). Addressee unfound and manuscript 'Inconnu à Parthenay' at top and reverse with 'DEB. / NIORT' deboursé handstamp in black. The entire with some sensible internal repairs protecting the folds but very rare.rnNote: Written by a soldier in 3rd Company, 2nd Battalion of 5th Legion of the Corps Observation of the Pyrennes, under the command of Marshall Bessières.
