    1855: Perkins Bacon 2 d. dull blue, imperforate on blued paper, wmk. Large Star, a fine used example with ample to large margins all round with portion of adjoining stamp at base, used on 1856 entire letter from Wellington to London, endorsed at upper left "per Talcahuano" (Chile) and confirming the Pacific route taken with this mail. The adhesive in a bright resonant shade lightly tied by '10' numeral obliterator with reverse showing 'Wellington / New Zealand' cds in black (February 19) and London arrival cds (May 17) in red where charged '2s.' due in manuscript. Minor file folds sensibly reinforced internally, but a very rare and important entire - the sole occassion when Mail was transmitted via Chile during the Chalon era. an exhibition item. Cert.
