    1836 (Feb 9): Entire letter from Barrackpore to Ireland endorsed 'per First Ship' written by James Higginson (his wax seal in Urdu on reverse) and signed internally (letter mentions the departure of the Governor of the North West Provinces, Sir Charles Metcalfe), struck on reverse with framed CALCUTTA / GPO / SHIP LETTER in black (Feb 12). Faint Ship Letter of arrival and Dublin transit in red (June 20) and fine 'Parsons Town' arrival cds of the following day.
