    Ballon Monté No. 5 1870 (Sept 26): Entire letter endorsed at top 'Armée de Paris' to Arcachon struck with 'Paris / 60' datestamp (Sept 26, 5th levée) and framed 'P.P.' in black. Reverse with 'Bordeaux a Irun' cds (Oct 18) and Arcachon arrival cds (Oct 19). Carried from beseiged Paris on the Ballon "Le Nom-dénommé No. 1" and sent stampless as this was the last day of the the 'free' Military Concession rate and was mailed the day prior before the endorsement 'Par Ballon Monté' became obligatory. A fresh and fine entire Maury = € 450++.
