    Prior to the Siege 1870 (Sept 8): Cover and contents to Light Oaks, Manchester, UK franked by 1863/67 10 c. bistre and 20 c. blue tied by Paris Star 1 with 'Paris / Place de la Bourse' cds and framed 'PD' in red alongside. Manuscript "Missent to" and struck with LEIGH / LANCS cds (Sept 9) in black and forwarded to correct destination the same day. Fascinating content "I write these few lines as it is just possible letters may not leave a day or two hence due to the quick advances of the Enemy...I shall find some work to do on an Ambulance...".
