1890: Die Proof for the 1 d. chestnut in close to the issued colour, on cream wove paper, 68 x 113 mm., engraved by Samuel Reading and typographed at the Victorian Government printing Office, with manuscript 'X' at top in ink. The stamp was issued to coincide with 1 d. postage for inland mail and was loosely based on the 1 d. black.
