1854: Prepaid cover from La Rochelle, France with cds of despatch (July 29) on front, mailed via Bordeaux and London with 'Paid' transit in red (July 31) with rate '15' décimes on reverse in manuscript. On arrival struck with "14" Swan Hill Butterfly handstamp in red and with three line "ADVERTISED / AND / UNCLAIMED" on obverse with circular SHIP LETTER / FREE / GPO VICTORIA datestamp (Oct 16) in red.
