    Mail from Turkey to Greece 1872: Cover from the interior, readdressed to Smyrna (Izmir) and then to Athens franked by 1868 Dulos 20 pa. green pair tied by rectangular despatch handstamp in black, transferred to the Greek P. O. in Smryna (Aug 25) with circular datestamp in black of despatch. Manuscript '40' (lepta) in blue crayon applied on arrival in Athens, where a further Turkey Dulos 20 pa. was postally removed in order to apply another '40' charge in red crayon and the two Greece 1870/71 20 l. blue adhesives tied by 'Athens' cds's (Aug 28) paying the single rate from the Greek Office in Smyrna. Faults including a rebacked hole at top of cover and the adhesives with imperfections, nevertheless a remarkable and most unusual cover. Illustrated in 'Les Tarifs Helléniques' on page 218.
